Samual H. Sheppard (or "Shepard") served as 2d Corporal March 18, 1861 in 1st Regiment, Georgia Infantry in Chatham County, "1st Republican Blues". He mustered out at Augusta, Ga. March 18, 1862. Samuel enlisted as a private in Co. A, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry September 20, 1863.
He was transferred to Co. A, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry February 13, 1864.
Appointed Clerk in Quartermaster Dept. in 1864. Roll dated September 30, 1864, was the last on file...no further records.
