H.G. Whiting enlisted October 1, 1863 at Augusta with Capt. Russell. Bugler Whiting served in Co. A, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. A, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
