William Allen was enlisted June 10, 1862 by Capt. Miller in Savannah in Co. C, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry
and when the 7th Georgia Cavalry was formed, he was transferred to Co. B of the 7th, but for only a short time.
On February 19, 1864, Pvt. William Allen transferred to the 22nd Battalion, Georgia Artillery.
