R.F. Jackson enlisted December 15, 1862 at Charleston. He was in Co. C, 21st Battalion until February 13, 1864 when the 21st and two other units were consolidated to form the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry. Company C of the 21st became Company B of the 7th.
Jackson's horse died August 30, 1864.
In late fall of 1864 Pvt. Jackson received an issue of clothing.
