William F.L. Black in Elbert County enlisted in Co. B of the 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Black, now serving in Co. C of the 7th, showed up as present on roll calls. His horse died in mid July 1864. It indicates he acquired another horse for he lost his horse in action along with his saber, saddle, bridle, etc.

Private William F.L. Black was captured and paroled at Greenville, S,C. May 23, 1865.
