Sgt. John Haley Hebbard, born in Camden County, Ga. served in Co. B, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry and on February 13, 1864 was transferred to Co. C, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

While serving in Northern Virginia in June 1864, Sgt. Hebbard was wounded in his thigh. He recovered and continued with the 7th.

While on horse detail he surrendered, 2 days prior to command's surrender.
