G.A. Pethel enlisted December 15, 1862 in Hall County. He was in Co. B, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. C, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. Pethel was without a horse after May 28, '64. He was present on all roll calls through October '64 and was listed as being in a hospital November 17th. He was captured at the hospital in Richmond on April 3, 1865 and was paroled May 25th.
