Alfred H. Lovingood enlisted August 29, 1862 at Camp Mercer with Capt. E.C. Anderson. Sgt. Lovingood served in Co. B and later in Co. C of the 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. D, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Sgt. Alfred H. Lovingood was killed in action on June 11, 1864 during the Battle of Trevillian Station.
