James H. Butler enlisted with Capt. Banks May 13, 1862. He served in Co. B, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry and went on to be in Company E, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Records show that he was present on all roll calls through October 1864. In late fall of '64 he received an issue of clothing.
