He was listed as being present on roll calls until June 11, 1864 when he was captured during the Battle of Trevillian Station, Va. He was sent to Fortress Monroe on June 20th and on July 9th transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y.

Pvt. B.P. Morrel died February 2, 1865 of variola (small pox). He was burried at Elmira, Woodlawn Cemetery, grave # 1788.
