W.A. Summerlin enlisted November 25, 1862 in Savannah. He was in Co. B, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. E, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Summerlin was issued a furlough on April 18, '64 and was instructed to rejoin the Company at Augusta.
He lost his horse August 1st and also was sick in hospital in August. Otherwise, he was present at all roll calls.
