H.P. Taylor was enlisted by Capt. Banks June 30, 1862 at Savannah. He served in Company B of the 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until February 13, 1864 when through consolidation the 7th Regimant, Georgia Cavalry was established.

Pvt. Taylor was captured June 11, 1864 at Trevillian Station, Va. He was sent to Fortress Monroe on June 20th and on July 9th was transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y. He was again transferred but this time to be exchanged on October 11, 1864. He was admitted to U.S. Hospital at Baltimore, Md. two days later. The next day, October 14th, Pvt. H.P. Taylor died. No cemetery name was listed.
