Elisha Turner enlisted May 13, 1862 in Savannah with Capt. Banks. Pvt. Turner served in Co. B, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. E, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

On the March/April 1864 rolls, he is shown as sick in Savannah. On June 11th he was captured near Trevillian Station, Va. He was sent to Fortress Monroe, Va. on June 20th and on July 27, 1864 was transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y.

While at Elmira, Pvt. Elisha Turner died of pleurisy on February 27, 1865. He was buried in grave # 2137.
