James Channel enlited September 18, 1862 at Savannah. He served in Co. B and then Co. E of the 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. F, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. Channel was present on all roll calls through August '64. On the September/October, he was listed as absent, detailed 60 days - October 31, 1864.
