The 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry was organized February 13, 1864 at which time Pvt. Williams was assigned to Company F of the 7th. He was listed as being present on all roll calls through October except for 6 days in late April when the 7th was preparing to go to Northern Virginia. Most soldiers with or without leave visited home and family before departing. His horse was captured during the Battle of Trevillian Station, Va. June 11, 1864.
