W.J. Clark (Clarke) served in Co. A, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry as 1st. Lt. until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. G, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Clark retained his rank continuing as 1st. Lt. in Co. G of the 7th. In April '64 he requisitioned for the following; 13 lb. of grass rope, 20 lb. of cotton rope, forage or his company's 58 horses.

Lt. Clark was captured June 11, 1864 during the Battle of Trevillian Station. He was sent to Fortress Monroe, Va. and on June 23rd, he was transferred to Fort Delaware.

1st. Lt. W.J. Clark was released June 11, 1865. On his description, his residence was Charleston, Ga. (S.C.): complexion, dark; hair, dark; eyes, blue; height, 5 feet 8 inches.
