A. Jordan enlisted September 22, 1862 at Waynesville with Capt. T.S. Hopkins. Pvt. Jordan was in Co. A, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. G, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Jordan was captured June 11, 1864 at the Battle of Trevillian Station. He was sent to Fortress Monroe, Va. on June 20th and was transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y. on July 25, '64.

As many soldiers did in the horid conditions, Pvt. A. Jordan died at Elmira. The cause of death was listed as chronic diarrhoea. He died October 23, 1864 and was buried in grave # 743.
