J.P. Nettles enlisted February 12, 1864 at the Isle of Hope. Pvt. Nettles was briefly in Co. A, 24th Battalion, Ga Cav until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. G, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
In June (probably the 11th of June, '64) Pvt. J.P. Nettles was wounded, hospitalized and diagnosed as vul sclopet (vulnus, having to do with a wound, especially in a difficult location). He died of the wound June 26, 1864.
