L.J. Strickland enlisted September 22, 1862 at Waynesville with Capt. Hopkins. Pvt. Strickland was in Co. A, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. G, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. Strickland was detailed as Forager Master. His rate of pay increased from the normal $12 monthly to $19.50.
Pvt. L.J. Strickland served the duration of the war and surrendered April 9, 1865 at Appomattox Courthouse, Va.
