Anthony Cler enlisted September 30, 1863 at Marietta. Pvt. Cler served in the 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Co. D until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. I, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Cler was present through May '64. On June 24th, he was wounded in the Battle of Nance Shop. Cler was in Jackson Hospital at Richmond June 26th with vsl eye, min ball. On June 28th he was transferred to Camp Winder. He was furloughed for 60 days beginning July 20, 1864.
