John H. Kersey enlisted at Campbell County September 25, 1861 with the Chattahoochee Vols, Co. K, 30th Regiment, Ga Inf. He was moved from General Hospital #1, at Savannah, Ga. to General Hospital at Augusta, Ga., with fever, April 25,1863 . Transferred to Co. I, 7th Regiment Ga. Cavalry April 2,1864.
Roll for April 1, to September 30,1864 , last on file, shows him absent, sick in hospital since June 29th. Appears on receipt roll for clothing in the period from October 1, to December 31,1864 . No later record..
