Joseph K. Moon joined the 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry and served in Company D until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. I, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
On April 1, 1864 he was commissioned Jr. 2nd Lt. He was present on roll calls until September 11, '64 when he was on sick leave by General Lee. Other wise he was present on roll callls.
