P.J. Morris, of Cobb County, Ga., enlisted September 1863 at Marietta, Ga. in Capt. J.W. Brumby's Co. D, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, and on February 13, 1864 was transferred to Co. I, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. Morris, detailed to go after fresh horses, was returning from Savannah when he heard of Gnl. Lee's surrender. He was in North Carolina at the time and returned home.
