W.H. Blitch enlisted October 17, 1863 in Bryan County with Capt. J.L. McAllister and served with the Hardwick Mounted Rifles in Co. A. When the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry was organized through consolidation of units, Pvt. Blitch was assigned to Co. K of the 7th.
Pvt. W.H. Blitch was reported as "without horse" on the October 1864 roll. He was admitted to Jackson Hospital with pneumonia Nov. 5, 1864 and was furloughed on Nov. 10th for 60 days.
