Nathan Boddie served in Company A of the 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry during the early years of the war. In February 1864 the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry was formed through consolidation of the 21st, 24th Battalion and the Hardwick Mounted Rifles. Pvt. Boddie was assigned to Company A of the 7th.

When the 7th Georgia was sent to Northern Virginia, Boddie was detailed for post duty at Gordonsville, Va. He survived the war and is buried next to his wife near Arcadia, LA.
