Enlisted again as a private in Co. A. 9th Regiment, Georgia State Troops November 1, 1861 and again discharged because of disability in 1862.

On April 1, 1863 Daniel enlisted as a private in Co. A, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry and on February 13, 1864 was transferred to Co. A, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pension records show that he was in Augusta at the close of the war after returning from recruiting service.
