Joseph T. Kendrick enlisted August 21, 1862 in Augusta with Capt. Russell. Pvt. Kendrick was in Co. A, 21st Battalion, Ga Cav until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. A, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

His horse was captured June 11, '64 during the Battle of Trevillian Station. Pvt. J.T. Kendrick was on roll calls as being present through September and received a clothing issue in the late fall of 1964.

Kendrick transferred to 53rd Georgia January 14, 1865. His name appeared on a report of Field Officers of regiments and of Reynolds Brigade, commanded by General D.H. Reynolds.
