B.F. Story enlisted May 8, 1862 in Augusta with Capt. Russell. Pvt. Story was in Co. A, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. A, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Story was captured June 11, 1864 at Louisa County Courthouse, Va. He was sent to Fortress Monroe June 20th and was transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y. July 25, 1864.

Pvt. B.F. Story died of typhoid fever August 25, 1864 and was buried at Elmira in grave # 94.
