William T. Boston enlisted October 8, 1861 in Savannah with Lt. Col. Rockwell. He served in Company C of the 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until February 13, 1864 when through consolidation of units, Co. C of the 21st became Co. B of the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Cpl. Boston was shown as being present on all roll calls except for 8 days without leave in late April. No punishment was applied. He was captured on June 11, 1864 and was sent to Fortress Monroe on June 20th then transferred on July 25, 1864 to Elmira Prison in New York.

Cpl. William Boston was selected for exchange on October 11, 1864 and was exchanged on October 29th.
