S.B. Brinson enlisted September 7, 1862 at Charleston. He served in the 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Co. C. He was transferred to Co. B, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry February 13, 1864.

Pvt. Brinson was present throughout the war with the exception of spending time with his family for a few days prior to leaving for Virginia. In July his horse died at the recruiting camp. In late Fall of '64 he was issued a clothing issue.
