He was listed as present through mid April where, when like many men, was listed for 8 days as absent. At this time the 7th was preparing to leave for Northern Virginia.
Dixon was captured June 11, 1864 at or near Louisa Courthouse, Va. at the battle of Trevilian Station. He was sent first to Fortress Monroe on June 20th and transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y. July 25th. He died of chronic diarrhoea February 24, 1865 at the age of 24.
Listed as Bulloch County, Ga. being his home, Private Kirvin Dixon was buried at Elmira in grave # 2307.
