Nathan Durden enlisted January 2, 1863 in Charleston with Capt. Miller. Pvt. Durden was with the 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Co. C until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. B, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

On the January/April 1864 roll, Pvt. Durden was present except for 14 days in April just prior to moving to Northern Virginia. Otherwise, he was present through October. He received a clothing issue in the late fall of '64.

He surrendered and was paroled at Augusta on May 31, 1865.
