<Gillis, C.
C. Gillis enlisted December 4, 1862 at Charlston with Capt. Miller. He was in Co. C with the 21st Battalion and was transferred to Co. B, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Gillis was captured June 11, 1864 near Trevillian Station. He was sent to Fortess Monroe June 20 and transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y.

On February 20, 1865 he was transferred for exchange then on March 2nd he was in U.S. Post Hospital, Bermuda Hundred, Va. with small pox. He was transferred to the charge of General Mulford (CSA) March 23rd. Pvt. Gillis was admitted to Receiving Hospital, General Hospital #9 at Richmond, also on the 23rd. He was admitted to Jackson Hospital April 1st. He was captured April 3rd at Richmond in Jackson Hospital.

Pvt. C. Gillis died May 1, 1865 of typhoid fever. He was buried in Hollywood Cemetery. It looks like grave # 83.
