George W. Ulmer enlisted May 30, 1862 in Savannah with Capt. Miller. Pvt. Ulmer was with the 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Co. C until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. B, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Ulmer was present until June 11, 1864 when he was wounded at Trevillian Station, Va. It appears that he was back on duty in September.

On September 24th his records show that he had a Government horse. In the late fall of '64, he had a clothing issue.
