Sgt. Maj. Jones dropped from noncom staff at consolidation of the regiment April 1, '64. He rejoined April 16th as private then appointed 5th Sgt. on May 12th.
Sgt. Jones lost his horse in action June 12, 1864 along with his saddle, bridle and sabre. Sgt. Jones was separated from command in December 1864 while in Georgia. He was unable to return to the 7th before war's end.
Sgt. Thomas A. Jones surrendered and was paroled May 18, 1865 at Hartwell, Ga.
