William W. Patterson of Elbert County, Ga., enlisted as a private in Co. B, Georgia Cavalry, 24th Battalion and then was transferred to Co. C, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Patterson was absent 3 days in April. Other than that, he was present through October '64. He and others were detailed to recruit fresh horses around Savannah and were stationed temporarily at the breastworks below Savannah.

Pvt. Patterson, on April 15, 1865, was confronted and released from service at Branchville, S.C.

He was captured and paroled at Hartwell, Ga. on May 19, 1865.
