Alphonse J. Setze was with the 24th Battalion, Ga Cav, Co. B. He was commissioned 1st Lieutenant February 24, 1863 and carried his rank when the 7th Regiment, Ga Cav was organized February 13, 1864. He was then in Co. C of the 7th.

Lt. Setze was present through September and listed as missing in action in October. He was captured October 27, 1864 at Petersburg, Va. He was sent to Old Capitol Prison at Washington, D.C. Lt. Setze was transferred to Ft. Delaware December 16th.

1st Lt. Alphonse Setze was released from Ft. Delaware June 12, 1865. He was described as: residence, Richmond, Ga.; complexion, dark; hair, dark; eyes dark; height, 5 feet 10 inches.
