W.H. Cook enlisted on August 4, 1863 in Hall County. He served in Co. C, 24th Battalion prior to assignment to Co. D of the 7th Georgia Cavalry in early February 1864.

The last two muster rolls for the 7th show him detailed as a hospital nurse and being without a horse.

He surrendered with the remnant of the 7th with General Lee on April 9, 1865.

W.H. Cook is buried at Timberidge Baptist Church in Hall County, Georgia.
