Daniel W. Drawdy began his military career September 22, 1862 at Waynesville, Ga., served in Co. A, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry and on February 13, 1864 was transferred to Co. G then to Co. D, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Drawdy was listed as being present on all roll calls and served through the duration of the war. He lost his haversack in April '64 and his pay was deducted to replace it.

Pvt. Daniel W. Drawdy surrendered with General Lee at Appomattox April 9, 1865.
