Jacob B. Ebberhart enlisted October 24, 1863 in Hall County. He served in Co. C, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until through consolidation Co. C of the 24th became Co. D of the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Ebberhart was listed as present until on June 11, 1864. He was captured at Louisa County Courthouse and was imprisoned at Elmira Prison, N.Y.

Pvt. Jacob Ebberhart didn't survive the conditions at Elmira. He died October 3, 1864 of chronic diarrhoea and was buried in grave # 533.
