W.H. Gunter enlisted January 23, 1863 at Oglethorpe County. He was with Co. C, 24th Bttn, Ga Cav until February 13, 1864 when the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry was organized through consolidation, Co. C of the 24th was then Co. D of the 7th.
Pvt. Gunter was without horse in August '64. An issue of clothing was given in June and November. In October he was absent, sick.
