R.N. Hubbard enlisted January 4, 1864 in Hall County. He served in Co. C, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. D, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Hubbard's records show that he was without a horse after May 25, 1864. He was in a hospital in January, 1865 at Danville, Va., diagnosed as having pneumonia supervening (adding to or replacing).

Pvt. R.N. Hubbard died in the hospital January 26, 1865.
