D.K. Smith enlisted January 2, 1864 in Hall County. He was in Co. C, 24th Battalion, Ga Cav until February 13, 1864 when the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry was organized through consolidation, Co. C of the 24th was then Co. D of the 7th.
Pvt. Smith reported present through October. He lost his horse in September '64.
