W.H. Snellings enlisted September 1, 1862 at Camp Mercer with Capt. Anderson. Pvt. Snellingswas in Co. C, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. D, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Snellings was captured June 11, 1864 near Trevillian Station, Va. He was sent to Fortress Monroe, Va. June 20th and transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y. July 25, '64.

On February 20, 1864 Pvt. W.H. Snellings was paroled at Elmira and transferred for exchange and sent to James River, Va. for the exchange.
