W.A. Webb enlisted December 23, 1863 in Decatur, Ga. with Maj. J.P. Andrew. Pvt. Webb served in the 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Co. C until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. D, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

On June 11, 1864, Pvt. Webb was captured during the Battle at Trevillian Station, Va. He was sent to Fortress Monroe, Va. on June 20th and on July 25th, 1864 he was transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y.

Pvt. W.A. Webb died at Elmira September 14, 1864 with chronic diarrhoea. He was buried in grave # 266.
