Richard Habersham Wylly, first served in Co. C, 1st Regiment, Georgia Inf. (Oldstead's) of Chatham County, Ga. ("1st REPUBLICAN BLUES"). He was appointed 3rd Corporal May 30, 1861. Transferred to Co. B, 8th Regiment, Georgia Inf August 19, 1861. Discharged by order of Secretary of War May 26,1862.

He enlisted and was appointed 1st Sergeant of Co. A, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry September 22, 1862. Sgt. Wylly was transferred to Co. C and elected Captain February 24, 1863.

When the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry was organized Capt. Wylly was transferred to Co. D, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry. He was wounded June 12, 1864 and sent to Gen. Hospital #4. The report indicated the wound was in the right thigh and another report the wound was in the left leg. He was furloughed for 60 days after leaving the hospital.

Paroled at Thomasville, Ga. May 19, 1865.
