W. Young enlisted September 22, 1862 at Camp Fort with Capt. Hopkins. Pvt. young served in the 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Co. A and later Co. C until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. D, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. Young was listed as being present at roll calls and without horse through October 1864.
