When the 21st became part of the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry, Pvt. Brander was assigned to Company E.

He had on a roster of March and April that he was present, had recruited a new man and has bounty due. In the May / August roll he was sick in Jackson Hospital at Richmond having been diagnosed as pneumonia and febris.

Pvt. V.S. Brander died June 26, 1864.
