Crutchfield was present at roll calls up to June when he was captured near Trevillian Station, Va. on June 11, 1864. He was sent to Fortress Monroe on June 20th and from there he was transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y. on July 25, '64.
Pvt. R.F. Crutchfield died January 30, 1865 from variola (small pox). He was buried at Elmira in Grave # 1722.
