John Dixon, born in Bulloch County, Ga. enlisted October 12, 1862 at Savannah and several months later transferred to Co. B, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, then on February 13, 1864 was transferred to Co. E, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. Dixon was listed as being present on all roll calls through October. In November or December 1864, he received a clothing issue.
Pvt. Dixon surrendered April 9, 1865 with the regiment at Appomattox, Va. along with General Lee.
